Slovenia Business Incubation
In Slovenia there is no association for innovation centers. The following information is aimed at providing an overview and general information about the actual situation of enterprise promotion and business incubation in the country. There are three incubators in Slovenia: in Jesenice Lendava and Sezana. For the field of innovation a section of SBDC - Slovenian Business Innovation Network is directly in charge to promote and support inventors/innovators mostly by supporting participation at national and foreign fairs. Slovene inventors received many awards through the years; only in 2000: 43 awards for 61 inventions at the fairs in Nurnberg, Geneve and Pittsburg. SBIN also helps Slovene inventors to cooperate with similar foreign institutions, co-finance theirs work through tenders, co-finance their promotion at the fairs, organize their media promotion and publish promotional material. One the priorities in 2001 is to implement an integral support system to innovation activities in Slovenia with emphasis on promotion of innovative activities through Regional Innovation Centres with qualified consultants. SBDC start-up business support involves: * programme of home-based and distance work * promotion of women entrepreneurship * programme of developing the entrepreneurial spirit and creativeness among young people * voucher system of consulting and training * encouraging the development of incubators and techology parks * involvement in activities of implementation of Anti-Bureaucratic Programme There are other institutions in Slovenia that support innovation in Slovenia, for example at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia.
